Maye Tvam Yahi || Keyboard Sathya

Maye Tvam Yahi is a very melodious composition by Sri Muttusvami Dikshitar in Ragam Tarangini set to Adi talam. This particular version is performed on the basis of the Raga Description in Sangitha Sampradaya Pradarshini (SSP) written by Sri Subbarama Dikshitar.

I was inspired to learn this composition after hearing it in a performance of Smt. Seetha Rajan mami and later came to know that this is the raga structure that has been written in the SSP. It is very fascinating to learn how music and compositions have evolved through time..

ENTERING 17TH YEAR OF DECEMBER MUSIC SEASON AND MY PERFORMING CAREER

It has been a long journey from my first official concert on the 9th December, 2001 and it has probably taken these years to come to the base camp.

Thanks to my maternal Thatha and most importantly NADOPASANA Shri Srinivasan mama, who gave the opportunity to perform on the 9th December, 2001. He is seen in the extreme right he indeed lived a very Humble Life as seen in this photograph.

It is indeed an effort with Almighty's Grace, Gurus & my Parents Blessings, Wishes from each and every one of you all the well wishers, family and friends and most importantly artists and technicians who had enhanced my concerts. Now i feel its my responsibility to scale further and climb EVERESTs in Music career and with all the above to continue to be showered on me,  i am sure i will have the right energy and direction do accomplish same.

Sweet 16 years have passed by and KeyboardSathya as an artist is stepping in to the 17th year this day and am happy that he has some good concerts lined up with some concepts as well.

The interesting concert for this Season would be the one i perform for AmudhaDhwani for Thaligai is the concept of making it an audience choice of song to be performed in the concert. The idea is when one gets a ticket will have to give their choice two days prior and all song requests will be placed and a 10 songs from that would be taken in lots, minutes before the concert. The order of performing those songs would be decided on stage.

This December concert schedule can be looked at the following link:

December Concert Schedule 2017

I am also happy to get in to the nNew Year with a 15 mts performance on the 3rd January, 2018 at Thiruvaiyaru from 545 - 6pm followed by a grand film hits presentation on the 8th for Abbas Cultural's "Kalai Vizha". Details will be given soon.

Looking forward to seeing you all in all or at the least few of the concerts during this month.

Thursday, August 31, 2017

It has been a long time thought to coloborate with my cousin brother Vikram to do a show which we had been doing in our early days.

This is indeed a grand opportunity as we get together and trying to present a music capsule of around 100 + minutes to our well wisher and audience.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on the 3rd September, 2017 at MFAC hall, Oliver Road, Mylapore next to St. Isabel Hospital for the concert from 645 pm.

Happy interaction with Jordan Rudess, worlds leading Keyboard Artiste

It has been quite 3 months with lots of time left for own compositions and updating the learning process. The year 2017 has given myself the right time to Evaluate my self and i am enjoying every moment of this wonderful Year.

The first result / experience of the self Evaluation came with direct communication with Mr. Jordan Rudess, a Internationally Renowned Leading Keyboard Artiste when i was attempting to do few works on GEOSHRED, an app - an instrument by itself made by third Genius.

It was so nice of him and his company to recognise my effort to have a tone registered in my name "SATHYA" in the app and is indeed one of the great recognitions i have received so far for my efforts.

Followed with this was the news of having been selected and listed as one of the Empanelment Artiste in ICCR, a forum under Govt. of India taking Indian Music beyond boundaries. Its a privilege, honour and humble submission that this is the first entry for Keyboard as a Lead Instrument to get into this premier Institution.

The next was with the performance for ABBAS CULTURAL with Sri. GANESH KIRUPA's Orchestra playing a concert full of Film songs with live orchestra. The large turn out and their stay till the end gave us the Team on Stage with Karthik & Team on PA a great satisfaction of having given the audience a wonderful Musical Evening.

Continuing the process of self evaluation and the experimental mindset has given way to the concert of Sathya's Synthesis Teaming up my juniors in my college and with Swami anna to present a fusion concept concert for NADASUDHA on the May 13th, 2017.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on this lovely day to support us.

Wow January 2017!

What a start for this year! A Grand concert presentation with CROSSROADS and at Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan followed by a day trip concert successful tour to Singapore and an opportunity to showcase my support for the cause of Jallikattu with the track - Jallikattu Song.

After a 30 day assignment with Modern Margazhi, these two tracks were of different shades and i am so happy that i could get these in right time with just few hours of notice given by ourselves.

As i step into my 23rd year in the next 32 minutes as i am typing this post, I thank The Almighty for the Grace and thank all the well wishers for having blessed & wished me all through.

My pranams to my parents and Gurus and look forward to all your wishes and blessings in the years ahead!

Greetings for a Very Happy New Year - 2017 as we say bye to year 2016.

Wishing you and your near and dear A Very Happy New Year!

Yes the last Quarter of 2016 i.e. Oct-Dec has been sensational in many ways!

What with a trip to Australia, a dream destination, owning new premises, having a Private Space for my own self named as Kbs Sound Zone, my Guru Kanyakumari amma being designated as Sangeetha Kalanidhi 2016 by Music Academy and the Great support i am getting for my project Modern Margazhi!

The disturbing and unconsolable loss was of Guru Dr. M Balamuralikrishna attaining the lotus feet of The Almighty in November. I had visited him in the first week of November as we were to do a pooja for our new premises and found i was fortunate to spend quality time to take his blessings.

The visit of Legendary SPB sir to open Kbs Sound Zone was another Dream Come True happening which was on the 4th December, 2016. Having acquainted with Ravi uncle and Uma aunty family is the highlight of the last quarter which made us make our Dream of owning our own place possible.

We need to thank many Kbsi ians family for helping us make this project come through with physical, moral and financial support extended to us.

The most happiest thing presently happening is the project "Modern Margazhi", a thought which actually came to me to present Thirupavai with some music arrangement close to ears of general listeners. I sincerely thought by doing this we can make this reach more people and decided to work on it. Then came an idea of making video of the making and then the thought from my cousin Viky to feature 30 artists for 30 days. Finally decided to make the tracks on daily basis, shoot the video, edit audio, master it and upload it i Facebook and Youtube one day prior from the start of Margazhi month i.e from 15th December evening as 16th was the first day this year of Tamizh Margazhi month.

With Almighty's Grace, Gurus and parents Blessings and well wishes of my Well Wishers have successfully completed 16tracks and heading for the 17th to upload today at 10pm.

I take this opportunity to Thank one and all for the Great support and encouragement and it is now time to say Good Bye to 2016 and lets Welcome the New Year 2017 with Greater Hopes.

Wishing you and your near and dear A Very Happy New Year!

A Sum up for February and mid March 2016

It has been a great February and a wonderful March as on date.

While I had the second opportunity to perform in Tamil Nadu Music University as part of the Founder Day's celebrations on the 25th February, I presented 6 sets of Medleys with Ganapathy and Suri uncles, Sridhar anna and my College mate Vijay. The Vice Chancellor Smt Veenai Gayathri Amma was so happy on our Team's presentation and assured to extend more opportunities as the large student assembled  were responding so positively with whistling, clapping and dancing.

Sivarathri nights:

Thanks to Mr. Harikrishnan, a Carnatic music organiser in Kerala, got the first opportunity to perform in the Prestigious Trupanittura Siva Temple Music series on the 6th March a day prior to Sivarathri. With great enhancement and a wonderful sound we gave a performance that was so well received by the large knowledgeable audience who were so receptive to this concept of Carnatic on Keyboard in a Traditional ground! Thanks to Sri. Narayanan Rao the entire concert has been recorded and now available in YouTube. My pranams to Hari ji for with his request of few songs I could learn performed it for the first time on stage.

On 7th MArch,  Sivarathri day I had the opportunity to perform with VL KUMAR uncle on Violin, Swaminathan uncle on Flute and Papanasam Kumar on Mrudhangam at BVB Mini Hall in the Sivarathri Agandam conducted by Sri. Kumar and family.

It was a rewind if sort at Kalahasthi on the 8th March, the day after Sivarathri,  as this time the concert ended up with many in the audience personally came in to take selfies and appreciated our presentation.  Thanks to ex Chairman of Kalahasthi Temple Board Mr. Kola Anand and his family got an opportunity to perform on the 6th March, 10 years after my earlier performance and thanks to our Team of Ganapathy uncle, Swami &  Sridhar annas and my friend Vijay it went well with fabulous response from a large audience.

I have also made my little musical efforts for this year's Cleveland festival and hope it's accepted well, thanks to Shashikiran Anna.

I am waiting to see the upcoming website of one of India's wonderful Camera architect in Sri. Iqbal for which I have tuned some own composition and looking forward to seeing it with his work.

Happy exam time and look forward to Happy Holidaying!!!

"Keyboard - The Trendsetter in Indian Classical Music"- 20 January 2016

Recognition Time

January 2016 was a month especially of bringing RECOGNITION in a great way! Yes the Etv reality show of legendary SPB sir's Padutha Theeyaga was telecast on the 11th and 18th January and was overwhelmed with the calls and the messages all over the world. I was humbled and honoured with SPB sir's compliments, wishes and blessings in the show.

On the 20th January i had the opportunity to present first full length Lec-dem titled "Keyboard - The Trendsetter in Indian Classical Music" in the National Conference organised by The Tamil Nadu Music And Fine Arts University, Chennai and South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur and i was really exited to do a good job as it was for the first time i was attempting to do this at this Grand Level. It turned out good with Nadas Bala anna and Swami anna enhancing my presentation with their Nadaswarama and Mrudhnagam respectively with Thirunavukarasu anna's Team on Sound. My sincere thanks to the Vice Chancellor Tmt. Veenai Gayathri amma for the thought of calling me and also blessings me.

I was so happy that Veenai Gayathri mam stayed for the entire presentation of mine and blessed me with great words of appreciation. I was humbled and honoured when my request to her to open a Department exclusively for Keyboard in the University, was accepted in principle and also assured to do so if i would directly get involved in the process with my presence along with people i could train with. WoW!  I was in cloud nine and understood that while the Lec-Dem has been successful More Responsibility has just got Added up on me! Looking forward to a positive outcome on this venture soon!

I also had a good feeling when people of my age and students from Sai Fine Arts, Nanganallur who looked at me as a roll model and wanted to take photos with me! It was again a honour to have been on a stage as Guest of Honour with a Padma Vibhushan Awardee, Sri Trichur Ramachandran who was so simple and was nice to interact with no frills attached of him being a Great Musician! Another person in my life from whom a great lesson learnt to keep our heads down in spite of name and fame!

What was most surprising is the Most Surprising opportunity coming way in Doordharshan through my college Professor's wife to give an intro for this year's Thyagaraja Aradhana Pancha Rathna Krithis presentation which was to be telecast live and was indeed blessed! My concert also went well in Thiruvaiyaru and it was so nice to see me on the DD screen just before the start of the Pancha Rathna Rendition at Thiruvaiyaru.

Thanking Almighty for all these recognition and many more to come as well with prayers to have a cool head as always! The gigs with Mysore Manjunath uncle and Ms. Mahathi along with Rajesh Vaidhya anna gave different experiences and look forward to great Years Ahead as i enter 21from this February!

Seeking all your wishes, blessings and Almighty's Grace, signing off from this post.

Welcoming The New Year 2016

Had a good send off to 2015 with a good gig with Embar ji at Vani Mahal this time along with many musicians organised by Carnatica.

The New year 2016 has begun with a good presentation of the first concert for Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha on the 2nd January. I was so moved when i saw Rajesh Vaidhya anna in the audience for this concert and sincerely appreciate his expressive nature of showing up his love and affection for me. Even though you have many rasikas turning up for concerts and this has been on the growth side in the past year, seeing an artist of his calibre to come and spend time was indeed a surprise!

I was also pleasantly shocked when Rajesh Vaidhya anna mentioned that he felt me missing on stage at The Music Academy while he performed a Solo on the 1st January during this year's Sadas. I do not know how many of us would do this! He indeed is a different artiste not only on performance but also in the Way he supports, encourages and compliments his co-artists. Hats Off Anna!

The Thematic solo concert for Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on the 14th January was indeed a challenging presentation what with myself committing to perform just Navagraha Krithis for a 90 minute concert. While i did not expect many to turn up on that day to my surprise the mini auditorium in the 2nd floor of BVB, Mylapore was full and with Almighty's Grace managed to present the Navagraha krithis with some detailed Alapana and kalpanaswaram as well. I enjoyed the enhancement give by Madurai Venkat, Sunil and Hari annas and with "The Grace of Navagrahas" the concert went well and was indeed well received by one and all. A blessing and honour was the presence of many in the audience and in particular Sri. Keyboard Venkatasubramanian sir, a senior musician, keyboard artiste and a wonderful composer and Smt. Malavika, A Musicologist. They did interact with me and appreciated this Theme Presentation which they felt was indeed a Brave and Successful Effort.

Sum up for the Year 2015

Its been quite a long time to be precise over 8 months since i got in touch with through the blog. I sincerely feel bad but with WhatsApp, twitter and facebook we tend to communicate in short and the habit of detailing is really been lost. What a Shame! After all our custom and culture is to narrate incidents in detail and this art is now almost dwindling due to sheer laziness and un willingness to spare time, even though we definitely can make it. Let me try and be as narrative as possible at least from now on and hope to be in regular touch.

The second half of last year has been very encouraging. With many concert presentations happening with Sivamani anna & Rajesh Vaidhya anna which has given me greater experience, especially to show case the presentation in different perspectives. The solo programs have also grown up in terms quality of presentation growth in Audience turn out and thats indeed a encouraging sign.

The flood in December has indeed taken its toll with water coming into our house to almost 3 - 4 feet and thank Almight we have managed to survive with considerably a lesser loss in terms of valuable and yes it has increased our confidence and the outlook of life totally.

The concert for Brahma Gana Sabha which i thought was gone, came our way and it was a totally a different experience to collaborate with Mannargudi Vasudevan uncle on Thavil and Sreesundarkumar anna on Mrudhangam. Teaming up with Embar ji this was indeed one of The Best Concerts of my career and look forward to many more. The Season concerts went very well also with Rajesh Vaidhya anna and one more with Embar ji. The encouraging factor is that in all the concerts the audience attendance is growing!

Manonmani on Sarangi, sri. Kumbakonam Swaminathan on Mrudhangam and Sri. Pradeep on Tabla on this wonderful day!

This is being performed  at Mahaperiyava Padhugai Temple, PS Sivaswamy Salai, Mylapore.

Looking forward to all your wishes for this New Team and effort!

Mystic May!

Yes it started with a concert for a well wisher's family and actually looked as if i was little free! However things shaped up well and it was another quiet  happy busy month with routines and interesting concerts with Team Rajhesh Vaidhya.

The last two concerts for the month on the 29th for a Doctor's family and on 31st for a Congress Member's family were indeed electrifying kind of presentation with one of the large crowds atending the concerts and also paying attention plus acknowledging our performance in a big way! Yes we have already received couple of concerts after these performances! While its a fact that we do have our concerts as a follow up of our presentations only, this was indeed mesmerising  for the fact that few concerts came up immediately!

Admiring April!

This is indeed a great month for me remember with two concerts in Team Rajhesh Vaidhya anna, in Koratur  for Koratur Cultural Academy and also at Thiruvarur in the music festival conducted by Sri. Thiruvarur Bakthavatchalam sir.

It was a busy month otherwise with concerts, few recordings and composing along with semester exams. Hoping to have good results!

superb March 2015

Yes it was indeed a great March this year as it was this month i got to perform my first recording for All India Radio as a, A Grade artiste and also my first interaction live on stage with Drums King "Sivamani" anna on the 31st March, 2015!

What an experience it was and with his wife Smt. Roona singng along it was a great concert and i was happy to have been part in this Team which was later named as "Sathya Prema Karuna" by Guruji of Mahuwa and indeed it was a grand Start for me to have been a part in the stage with Sivamani anna!

Great interactions with Team Rajhesh Vaidhya anna and indeed enjoying being in all these concerts!
