Private concert on the 10th Mar'08


I had a great concert today as i had a full bench team of Venkat anna on Violin, Suri uncle on Mrudhangam, Harish anna on Kanjeera, my dear friend Chandru on ghatam and Pradeep uncle on Tabla. This was for a very good well wisher's family function and ultimately it came out well also. I tried few new songs like Andhi Mayangudhadi, Idathupadham Thooki aadu, Needhan Mechikollavendum, Kathirupan Kamalakannan, Aarumo Aaval etc. I sincerely thank Rasikapriya Yahoo group for having sent me the mp3 for the last two songs mentioned and i sincerely hope that i have performed to an acceptable level.

I was actually suffering from bad cold and was surprised to see a team of doctors being made available in the concert hall. Yes it was for wedding reception i was to perform and the bridegroom's father told me i am at liberty to choose who i should get treatment from! (any way i did not know any one personally) Dr Sriram from Dindugal was kind to give me some tablets and i was happy when he said he had been to my concert earlier in Dindugal last year and liked it too.

It was also the first time i was performing with Erode Nagaraj uncle for a private concert and the team with Ananthakrishnan anna on violin and Sowri uncle on the ghatam and Morsing had a perfect setting for the concert with the right ambience - a interested set of audience for our music and good pa system. Almost till the end there were many who stayed back and listened to the concert and i was very happy. The recording has come good and after speaking to the artist appa should be uploading it in my site which you can listen to from this page or from my audio sample page link in my website in a couple of days time.

It was a pleasant surprise to receive a email from a well wisher couple, who had mailed me about the concert and showing interest to take to Dubai for a concert tour. I had received this mail very early in the morning on 9th March'08 and that was the reason i was so happy as to the interest they have shown on me. Hope it comes thru' with god's grace and thier sincere attempt.

A great day i will remember for a long time!




Appa told me that it was my 450th performance and was surprised to see the coincidence that both were for the same forum, NADOPASANA. If not for Srinivasan uncle giving me an oppurtunity as early as 9th Dec'01 it would not have a possibility for me to have done these performances. While it is just another number, i pray God to give strength to continue in music and satisfy all my well wishers thur' music. Pranams to my thatha who could not come the other day. my patti who is no more and wishing / blessing from the heaven. My other thatha and patti were there to cheer me up for this special concert and i enjoyed performing this concert with the team of Rajeev anna, Calcatta Karthick anna and Hari anna.

The most saddening thing is that this concert was not recorded due to the fact that the PA system operator forgot to open up the line for recording. May be god is to make me perform many more concerts like this and that's probably the reason!! Let me it in a positive way!!!

An interesting & effective performance 1st Mar'08

I performed on the 1st March'08 for a private wedding reception and it turned out to be interesting and effective as we had once audience around 50 - 100 who almost were there throughout the concert. Even though we had not planned, it came out very well with the selections coming to the liking of the audience. On hearing the sound from outside Mr. Yogeswaran from London who was staying in the same premises (its a hotel)wanted to see who was performing and on seeing me sat down for more than 1 hour and then appreciated me and went.

Same way my athai, athimber and Vikky anna had come for dinner and on hearing the tone of my keyboard confirmed that it was me and were listening to the concert from out side the hall and called me out as soon as the concert was over and appreciated me. We, Karaikal Venkat anna - Violin, Calcutta Karthick anna - Mrudhangam, Papanasam Sethuraman uncle - Kanjeera and Charasekara Sharma (we call him kalakurachandru) -ghatam, as a team jelled well and both the bride & bride groom's families were so happy about the concert.

It was also interesting that that the bride's family was from Mysore and many of them had been to my Ganabharathi - Mysore concert on the 10th Feb'08. Mr. Gopalakrishnan - Krishna Book House - Mysore gesture of bringing an article in The Hindu dated 29th Feb'08 about that concert was so moving and appa appreciated this gesture over the PA system and we all thanked him whole heartedly.

A concert presented on the 23rd Feb'08

It came out to be one of the interesting concerts i performed with audience's reaction was that of a sabha concert. We had two newcomers in the team - Mr Manian on Kanjeera & Konnakol (he is appointed in my school as special coach for Konnakol by our Chairman Mrs YGP) and my name sake Sathya anna (brother of Hariharasubramaniam anna who plays ghatam) who played both Ghatam and Morsing apart from Kandadevi Vijayaraghavan uncle on the Violin and Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan uncle on the Mrudhangam. Sri Avvai Natarajan, a great Tamil Scholar was there and blessed me on the mike and also had oppurtunity to meet former TN Minister and presently Chairman of many Educational institutions Sri Jagadraksagan.

A play i attended of my friend - Pranav on the 22nd Feb'08

I was fortunate to have been there for Pranav's play (appa's friend Diwakar uncle son and a good friend of mine) and it was indeed good. What a remarkable commitment shown by Pranav! He was just so casual and was looking as if he has done play stage plays before this!. The other girl who acted in the lead role also was excellent and the award for best actor / actress should go to these two for sure!! I am all praise for Pranav's ability to have absorbed so much of dialogues and in few scenes it was very lengthy too. We enjoyed the play all throughout.Given time and encouragement Pranav's interest will surely be on the upswing and we can look forward to ahve a great theatre artist and may be a great Hero in the near future for our big screens too!!

Sai anna, friend of my chitthappa asked us to come to his office for a project and i went to Tenth Planet Technologies where i presented a short concert for about an hour. The entire people there about 60 of them enjoyed my presentation form their CEO Mr Kumaran Mani. I was happy to have visited such a huge office premises and god willing, hope to do some projects with them in near future

An oppurtunity to see the Governor - 21st Feb'08



I was chosen as one of the 30 odd students to give Guard of Honour for His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu Sri Surjeeth Singh Burnala on the 21st Feb'08 for the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of our School at the Kamaraj Hall. Here are few pictures just before he came in, with my master guiding us to stand in position, just when the Governor came in, just walking near me, The guard seeing my amma taking photos with alert and me with the traditional clad welcome team of our school.

Private concert on the 17th Feb'08



It was another good concert with a new team of Violin - Villivakkam Raghuram uncle, Nadhaswaram - Balasubramaniam anna, Tabla - Murali and Thavil - Sowrirajan uncle with whom i presented this private concert. It came out well but in the recording the Nadaswaram portion has not come not all, may be the audio out for that to the headphone jack was not on. Need to check this from now on. Actually it came out well but well all these happens! Same type of thing happened in Thirupoonthurthi also with no other tracks were on!! Interesting thing was that the bride's sister from Dubai danced after my concert and it was very good also.

After the trip from Thirupoonthurthi the first private concert which was originally scheduled for a carnatic type, changed a mixed set up and we decided to present a carnatic krithi followed by the same ragam based film composition on the 16th Feb'08. It came out well and the team of Karaikal Venkatasubramaniam anna (Violin), Rajagopal uncle (Tabla), Suri uncle (Bass guitar), Sriram anna (Rhythm Pad), Hariharasubramaniam anna (Ghatam) Kumbakonam Swaminathan anna (Mrudhangam) with Sangeetha Raja anna on the PA system from Karthick audio were happy to have presented a good concert. The fact was not many acknowledged after the songs were performed but it did come after the concert was over and while we were going for the dinner.

A great trip to Thirupoonthurthi - 13th Feb'08


It was indeed one of my best outstation concert tours as i had allround satisfaction. Yes interms of concert presentation, train journey, bathing at the Cauvery river for almost 3 hrs and playing catching game with a soft ball in the waters. It was also a great experience to perform in fornt of a great composer's Jeeva Samashi of Sri Narayanan Theerthar and i sincerely thank Sri Thirupoonthurthi Venkatesan uncle and the committee for giving me an excellent oppurtunity. Sivakumar uncle (violin artist) Ananthakrishnan uncel(mrudhangam artist) and Sankar anna (Kanjeera artist) were so friendly i felt i have been with them for a long time. Looking forward to many commitments coming true from Swathi akka, who is Venkatesan uncle's grand daughter and we called her the Sposnor!! First time in Mysore for presenting a concert - Ganabharathi on 10th Feb'08

I was happy to have presented this concert in a different format like a thematic concert with alternate number on the compositions of Sri Purandharadhasa and Sri Thyagaraja. Thanks to Aaha Fm which relayed the krithi Rageethandheero sung by Smt Aruna Sairam, which was recorded by my father, i listened took notes on watching India win over Australia on TV in the hotel room and was happy when it came out well in the concert. I am sure i can do better presentation than this after few times. But i was happy at the level it came out. Ramanujam uncle was at his best on the Mrudhangam and so was Ramesh uncle. Rajesh anna was good and we all enjoyed the concert very much. A good trip after which i have written by exam also well!! (yes i am saying the truth only). Thanks to Dr Krishnakanth uncle and Iyengar uncle for giving me a lovely oppurtunity. I loved the photos above and hope every one will like it too!!

A concert in which a Muthu Malai was presented - 9th feb'08

The day started off with a pancharathna krithi performance at Padma Sarangapani Cultural academy and ended with a good concert for a private function in Chennai. Today with Rajeev anna on violin, Thillaistahanam Suriyanarayanan uncle on Mrudhangam, Nanganallur Swaminathan anna on Ghatam and Venkatramanan anna on the Kanjeera, the concert went very well and had a great satisfaction also. I was blessed with a old patti coming and presenting a Muthu Malai [Pearl chain] and i was totally moved on her gesture. I pray almighty to give me all strength to live up to all the expectations.

Yesterday's concert with heArtbeat was a great experience as i had to perform few new items which actually i learnt the same morning only. It was also for a sabha, Nanganallur Sri Thyagaraja Swami Sangeetha Sabha for their 18th year celebration. I am happy it came out well. It was for a private function i was performing in heArtbeat ensemble unit of Dr Ghatam Karthick uncle along with my mama Embar S Kannan. It went very well with Karthick uncle, Poongulam uncle, Sowri uncle, Sankar anna and my mama were encouraging me. I enjoyed performing with this team and look forward to get more oppurtunities. Entering in to the Teens. My birthday - 1st February





I had a great day on the 1st Feb with lots of wishes over phone and email messages pouring in greeting me & welcoming me in to the teens. I take this oppurtunity to thank one and all for the wishes. I had a good day at the school and had a quiet satisfying party time with my kannan uncle, grandparents (appa's parents as my other thatha was out of station) Athai and her son my dear brother Vikram Sarathy, well wisher - Sarathy uncle and Murali uncle. We all had met at Mylapore Saravana Bhavan and had informal dinner. I missed my chithi, chippa and their sons who were busy packing to proceed to Bangalore the next day. I got many gifts and most important was the oppurtunity to perform with my uncle in heArtbeat on teh 2nd Feb'08, my first concert in the teens!!

The 2nd trip to Hyderabad in Jan'08

This was indeed a trip i was looking forward to as i had planned to visit "Charminar". I was happy we had a good concert on the 29th Jan and was invited for lunch with the team by a 86 year old young man Sri Royallu, who is the son of a Gyanapetta Awardee,. He is a great writer i understand and he showed most of his works also as books. It was a great honour to have been to his house and take the blessings of his wife also. He is also doing research on Sama Veda and he is a citizen of US having home at LA. We presented a chamber concert in their house and he interviewed me for writing it in his forthcoming book. Before going to his house i went to Chanrminar with Suri uncle and appa and also visited the famous Masjid. There i had pleasant time spent with lots of Kabuthars for who i gave kana also. In the evening i was surprised to see my appa's friend Ramesh uncle's mother with two packets of lovely Karachi biscuits and i really was moved with this gesture of them.
