An excellent day with great experience gained.

7th Aug’07 is indeed a great day for me as it was a day when my dream of doing a performance in AR Rahman uncle’s studio was achieved. Yes I had visited the studio two months before with my uncle Embar S Kannan who performed in the same studio for a re-recording bit for “Sivaji”. On that day when I saw the studio I was telling myself that one day I should also come here to perform. I did not think it will be so soon and that too for my own DVD project.

This project was suppose to be shot at the Alliance Franchise on the 4th Aug’07 but could not do due to unforeseen circumstances. So we were all little worried but Paul Jacob uncle gave us the pleasant surprising news that we will be doing the shooting on the 7th Aug’07 at AM Studios i.e. the studio where I had been with my uncle two months back. I sincerely thank Paul Jacob uncle for his efforts and also Rahman uncle for having given permission to do our project in his studio.

I had left home around 745am to attend school early to write my exam. Thanks to my school management for giving permission to write the exam early in order to go for my shoot. As I finished the exam and came out I saw my uncle and amma waiting at the gate. We then went to the studio and it was thrilling to see the set up of 7 cameras and the huge unbelievable studio set up of A R Rahman uncle. After the initial sound light check up we started the project recording around 1245 pm and finished it around 1030pm.

Amazing it was because we did 10 numbers and all of them came out very well. We took time break between pieces and also ensured to hear them once it was over. Only the last three songs (not in the order to be in the album) were performed straight with out break and also hearing them. Paul Jacob uncle's administrative manager Mr Hemanth had made all arrangements for food and it was well organized.

Mr Balaji with Mr Aniwas took care of the camera and Mr Siva with Mr Tony was handling the audio. Every one of the team members encouraged me and in fact all of them gave their best which was the major reason for the success. Appa decided to make my uncle a singer in this album apart from being a violin artist in two numbers. In the keeravani composition of mine mama has performed a grand alapana and it will for the first time for many to listen to a rendition of music on a violin.

On knowing Ananthakrishnan anna’s (who normally plays violin for my concert) talent to sing Hindustani appa was made him to in the Thirukural music composition made by my self. He has done his best. Donan uncle made my job easier with great backing and improvisation on the lead guitar. Paul Jacob uncle was the source of inspiration to all of us on the Bass guitar and made us feel cool all the time with his advices. Balu uncle’s perseverance on playing grooves was in deed a great thing and it is indeed very difficult to do that. Durbuka Siva anna was excellent using different percussion instruments in all the songs and enhanced the numbers very well.

The engineers Siva & Tony uncle were great in getting work from us and also gave excellent sound for us to perform well. Muthukumar uncle of Mosarbaer was there for almost 4 hrs and appreciated me so much.

I really happy that my dream of playing in this studio has come live so soon and now look forward to achieving more with the grace of god and well wishes of my ell wishers.

Paul Jacob uncle & Appa informed that we would come out with a live show of this concept soon and I look forward to all your participation as audience. I share few great moments with the pictures above, with you all.

I always like to travel and so this once again was a favorite concerts i had to travel 77kms to Vizag. We went in 3rd AC as i had to perform same evening and it was really a pleasant journey. I Had a good time spent with Venkatasubramaniam (violin) anna and Suri uncle during the journey.
The concert was well attended and i had the blessings of a good knowledgeable audience who had wanted RTP for sure. Thanks to Ram Babu uncle, Trustee for having given me this oppurtunity to perform in one of the best auditoriums in Andra Pradesh. I look forward to performing many times here in future.

I was happy when our return ticket also got confirmed in 3rd AC. How ever when we returned to Chennai, we were informed that due to derailment of some trains near Chennai all trains were going late by almost 4 - 6 hours.
As we had a commitment to attend a rehearsal scheduled for the Video shoot, myself and appa got down at Ennore where our train was held for almost 1 hr. We got a Pallavan bus to Mint terminus and then took an auto to Nungambakkam straight to the rehearsal venue. It was indeed hectic more so because lost his pouch with all credit cards and some cash. We reached home at 1130pm after the rehearsal and it was one of the longest day as i had woken up at 330am to catch the train to Chennai leaving at 415am.
I now look forward to the video shoot happening for "Sathya's Synthesis" on the 7th & 8th Aug'07 and lots of good concerts coming up for this month.

Another debut concert with a new team in Sastri Hall

It was indeed a great feeling for me whenever i perform a concert in Sastri Hall as this is the stage from which i began on the 9th December 2001. I was very happy that my thatha, inspite of having undergone eye surgery, was there to listen to my concert throughout. Rajeev anna and Swaminathan anna were at their best and it really was one of the good concerts, once again for the first time as a team. Some how another debut performance in Sastri hall, this time with the team.

A High Profile wedding executed in a simplest way possible.

Yes imagine Maestro Ilayaraja and Youth sensation Sri A.R. Rahman attending a wedding to bless a couple with no great fuss. Infact many artists from the Kollywood attended the reception including Percussion artist Sri Puru uncle, Flautist Napoleon uncle, Periya Prasad uncle (tabla artist), Smt P Susheela amma, Sri Karthick Raja to name a few.

It was a real dream come true for me to have been the artist to perform in my guru Sri Sadanandam's son's wedding reception yesterday. Sri Sadanandam, (S/o late Sri R. Sudarsanam a great music director) is with Maestro Ilalyaraja as a leading guitarist right from his first movie and himself a good music director and a great teacher. I had the oppurtunity to learn from him before 3 years and even now whenever time permits he teaches me nuances in the western classical side.

It was also an occasion for me to be sharing stage with my uncle Embar S Kannan on violin, Sri Poongulam Subramaniam on mrudhangam and DR S Karthick on ghatam (first concert i am performing with him after he got the Doctorate) after a long time. I enjoyed every moment and in particular the enhancement they made for my Thilang rag based composition. A link for a small video clipping is given here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qrpnk-GZ5MI

I was happy to have got this oppurtunity to perform in this function by which i got the blessings of many great personalities like Smt Susheela amma and that of my guru's family. It was another great day for me to have a taken a photograph with A.R. Rahman uncle.

A great Day in my life - Meeting Dr Ravi Dattatreya, the person who gave me a Keyboard in Nov'04 and oppurtunity to perform exclusively for him and his family.

I was always wanting to meet Ravi uncle and get his blessings in person and that dream came true today, on the 30th Jun'07 when we visited him at Bangalore with his family. Ravi uncle was in India for private function in his family for which we were invited. As we could not attend the function day we checked and met him today in Bangalore and thanks to Ravi uncle and family who had spared time to see me in spite of their busy schedule to pack up and leave tonight to USA.

I was happy to perform in front of him but only thing that i had taken my new board. I am sure god will give me an oppurtunity to make Ravi uncle see me perform on his board as well in the near future. Srivatsava anna (Ravi uncle's son), Mrs Ravi aunty and all his relatives were very knowledgeable and appreciated me with their blessings. Ravi uncle made me richer today - this time with his cash reward and also blessed me for a great future. All the aunties, uncle and grandmas also blessed me. You can also visit http://videosonsathya.blogspot.com/ for a small video clipping of the Rama Namavali with Dr Ravi uncle's family members.

A great day to have got blessings from great people and also receiving this long pending Prize certificate from POGO TV.

Private concert on 17th June’07

I enjoyed the concert today with the team of Ananthakrishnan anna – Violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan uncle – Mrudhangam, Saravanan – Pad, Suri uncle – Guitar, Pradeep uncle – Tabla, Hariharasubramaniam anna – Ghatam with Girish of Karthik Audio manning the audio system.

We started the concert early against the scheduled of 7pm as we had almost a full house by about 640pm itself. The audience were very pleased with our performance and appreciated every song rendered. Requests for songs started coming in very early and I was happy that I could render almost every one. The crowd made me remember the turn out one of the concerts I performed at the same venue for Padmashree Sri Nalli sir’s function for felicitating Padma Awardees year back.

I am so happy today as i know we will be taking delivery of our new Maruthi Zen - Estilo Car (Pearl Silver Colour) Tomorrow.

I am happy to have spent my holidays well with lot of concerts which were outstation and also in DOHA. The trip to Thekkady which we had to cancell from Theni, The concert at the temple premises of Goddess shrine at Thirunageswaram etc were the highlights of my holidays.

It was nice to have been a part of “Fun day Out” celebrated by POGO and Cartoon Network on the 2nd June’07 in Chennai.

I was very happy to have taken a break from the routine to have gone for a drive to Mahabaliburam along with my chithappa’s sons Surya and Sowmya last week end. As we liked appa decided to take a room in Mamalla Beach resort and we enjoyed our stay with a great game of cricket with soft ball on the shore. It was also a great swimming session for almost 3 to 4 hours in the resort pool.

We continued our drive to Pondy and we visited Auroville and Mother’s Ashram which were a real great spiritual experience. The drive on ECR was fantastic and all of us enjoyed it.

Looking forward to all your blessings and wishes as i am going to school tomorrow – 14th June’07 and hoping to have a great year in the 7th Standard.

I had a great day today being my mother's birthday and it was also a good day because i was performing in front of many of Chennai's leading company's Chairmen, CEOs and MDs who were all present for Times of India's Trail Blazer Awards 2007 held today. I performed with Paul Jacob uncle on bass Guitar, Donnan Murray uncle on the Lead Guitar and Balu uncle on the Mrudhangam. I enjoyed playing this concert particularly when Donnan uncle and myself were on free flow in Jog and Vakulabaranam.

I was happy that top industrialists came and appreciated me and amma was happy that i had a good concert on her birthday. Also after a long time Akyilesh anna was with me for almost throughout the day as we recorded the Gayathri Manthra on keyboard to be incorporated in my upanayanam Video cd. A concert that satisfied by Aaa...thatha!

In my younger days i used to call my mother's father as Aaa..thatha as he used to teach me music and my father's father as Thapi (his actual name is Pathy). Yesterday in my concert for my father's friend's son Dhanvin's upanayanam i performed a little bit of Violin and this moment was probably the most happiest for him as he always wanted me to play violin.

I performed violin during Mohan raga varnam and also for kalpanaswaram in Vaathapi Ganapathim and i think it came out well as my thaatha appreciated very much for this effort. Here is the video links:
and please forward your opinion my email to keyboardsathya(at)gmail.com

It was also for the first time i performed with Mrudhangam - Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan uncle, Kanjeera - Harsih anna, Ghatam - Hariharasubramaniam and Thavil - Sourirajan uncle and was happy. Appa's friend KNR uncle and family was with us and i enjoyed playing with his son Koushik - a sprite fanatic!!!! at our house and we had a great time.

It was after almost a year or more my brother (athai's son) Viky performed (1st Picture) with me on pad and we enjoyed the show very much. My composition came out very well and here is a small clipping http://tinyurl.com/2w8oq6

I was also moved by the gesture of Arjun Ganesh anna when he offered his mrudhangam for Sri Sriniavasa Raghavan, brides' father, to perform on his mrudhangam(2nd picture). Incidentally Mr SV has been a gold medalist in Mrudhnagam and i understand he was indeed playing after many years. He played well for the krithi Venkatachala Nilayam.

The concert was in Thirumulaivoyil and we all went in a Innova car and had a good time cracking jokes while traveling both ways from to my house.
