My trip to Vellore on the 4th and 5th

I was happy to know from my appa that the TTD concert in Vellore was probably my 300th concert and what a blessing for me to have performed in front of Lord Venkateswara. Also it was indeed a great to have stayed with Mr/s Surendran's family who were host to the best possible. The food was excellent and i really felt bad for my amma as she was missing the good food (of course she prepares equally well too) and company of good kind hearted people. Thanks to Prasanth anna we had a good tour of vellore and Palluru - where my appa studied 23 years ago.

Saraswathi Kala Kendra - Vellore

It was in this institution's dance class i performed a concert for Saraswathi Issai Arangam on the 5th Nov'06 with L Ramakrishnan on the violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on mrudhagam and Dr Prof. Srinivasan on the Morsing. I was really happy to have shared stage with Dr Srinivasan as i felt he was too modest and encouraged me very much. I was happy to know that i was performing in SKK for the 102nd concert.

The above photos were taken in Saraswathi Kala Kendra. It is amazing to know that this was first started in a car shed of Sri & Smt Surendran's residence with just 8 7 students. Today they have more than 150 students learning veena, violin, mrudhangam, vocal and dance. It looks like barnasala - i have seen in movies & tv serials where as saint's residence. The ambience is very great and i think the students are gifted to have a school like this.
The details of photos are:

1. Saraswathi Kala Kendra's look from outside.
2. Veena master with students
3. Students with vocal teacher
4. Students in the dance calss
5. Smt Surendran standing outside the hall where i performed
6. Mr/s Surendran showing me a little pond with fish

I had a surprise on the 24th Oct'06 when Ms Vandana, Pogo channel called to say that she is coming the next day with a crew to shoot me at school, guru's class and at home which is again towards the POGO Awards 2006. I was informed that She will be at school at 10 am on the 25th Oct. It was a great day for me as i was having gala time. It was informed that i was one of the nominees for the awards and every one in the class, my teachers and the Pricipal wished me for getting the award. Three of my friends Arvind, Anusha and Bharadwaj were also interviewed separalety & so was was my class teacher and Principal.
Then we went to the beach to take shots there and as we were packing heavy rain started. It was one of the pleasant days i enjoyed in the beach with a great climate. I think i should ask appa to take me to the beach whenever it is to rain as i think that is the most appropriate time to be in the beach. If not for the shoot i am sure i would have had myself drenched in the water.
After lunch we proceeded to my guru Kalaimamani Ms. A Kanyakumari's house and finished shooting by around 530pm. My guru blessed and wished for my success. Appa tried to reach my guru Mandolin Shrinivas sir also but i am not blessed with his presence in Chennai as he is scheduled to come the next day only. Then the next location was at home and we had a surprise in store for us there.
Almost when i thought the shooting is over at around 915pm Cheenu, the Prime Time POGO compeer personality came in with a bang to say that "Congratulations Sathya. You are now in the TOP 5 Nominations of POGO AMAZING KIDS AWARDS 2006 in the category of MUSIC".
We were are thrilled to hear that and from now on, i understand it is to be shortlisted to 3 and then the winner to be announced in the first week of Dec'06. It is indeed amazing for me and my family for coming so much in to the TOP 5 and with the wishes of all my well wishers and with the grace of god i hope to go to the next stage of TOP 3.
I sincerely thank god for having brought me so close as it is in the race for this prestigious AWARD and i thank the entire crew of POGO channel who had been with me the entire day and co-opearted so well in producing this film on me. I presume this will be on air in PRIME TIME POGO from 4th Nov'06 on saturdays and sunday mornings fro 8-9 am. Singing off with a hope to inform you of the next stage entry soon.

Sathya in Mumbai for POGO Shoot

I was in Mumbai for a shoot made for Pogo channel as i am informed that i am in the race for this year's POGO Amazing Kids Award. This is one of the exercises towards this award and it was indeed a great trip for me as i went on Jetairways both ways with my father and enjoued the entire trip.

We went on the 13th Oct afternoon and stayed in a hotel named Hotel Columbus. On reaching Mumbai and being met by the driver, we went to the hotel and then on to the area near Ville Parle. I enjoyed the Pani Poori and Bhel along with a good ice cream and a lemon slush. That evening we had dinner at the hotel. In the mean time Adhishree aunty and Pradip Thakker uncle were ther in the room to brief us about the next days's schedule.

We left hotel around 1130 before which i had breakfast at Hotel Rama Krishnan where i had superb iddly sambar. The shoot went on for about 2 hours and after having lunch entertained the people there by playing my keyboard. Himanshu uncle who was the chief photgrapher was very impresinve and was very friendly too. The entire crew was helpful and courteous and not to miss out on Ganesh uncle who was our car Pilot for teh day. He was with us to the beach and i enjoyed seeing another beach of India other than our Marina. We reached airport, which is huge, and took flt and reached home around 1130. Thaks to Jairam uncle who was waiting at Cheenai airport to receive us and took us in his auto.
Met Mohamed Akrit Khan, a 13 year old child from Jaisalmeer who is also in this race. He was accompanied by his father Sri Khete Khan who was amazing with his karla katai i.e. 4 pieces of wood with which he was playing percusion. He palyed for my music and it was a real good time with me, matching his speed and gave a treat of good music to all the ones present. atleast that is what they said on this presentation. Sri Khete Khan is a profeesional artist playing alongside great musicians like Sri Zakir Khan and alsom y guru Sri Mandolin Shrinivas.
Looking forward to another trip and be with this POGO team at the earliest.

The making of Tea

A tour i enjoyed very much with full of fun and food 27 / 28 Sep'06.

The tour of Coimbatore and Coonoor was great as i enjoyed the journey by train and also the concerts. The audience for both the concerts was of different nature and i am happy as i was informed by many that the concert presentation was well received by them.

Gopi mama and his sister i can never forget and as it is my first visit it was indeed a great experience. What an ambience they have given to the artist who visit them? Gopi mama was waiting at the station to receive us and from then on till the next morning when we left to Coonoor he was with us tqaking care of all our needs personally. Imagine he even gave towels as gifts to us, thaks to Ananthu anna who had brought a small towel and Gopimama gave a big new towel as gift to him and also to all of us.
It was interesting to see great pictures of "The Trinity' which i believe is apinting given to Gopi Mama copied from the painting of a royal family. The photos were very realistic and till date i have not seen these pictures at all.
The dosas i ate in their was probably the best i have ever taken and so was the lunch. The longest time i have probably heard carnatic music should be in Gopimama's room where i was busy doing my home work hearing Sruthi station in World Space. I haveasked appa to buy one for me at home too. I am looking forward to celebrating Diwali this time with his family in coimabtore as i am going back for a concert on the 22nd Oct'06.
The Coonoor trip was great and i enjoyed the drive to the hill and so was all in the team. I along with Ananthu anna got off to a small water fall and enjoyed in the water. The climate was great around 19*C and enjoyed playing with Saravan anna whom we called as Car Pilot, with my aeroplane. The food here at the hostel was also very good and the team hogged as we were very hungry. Sister Mary and the entire college students were appreciating my ability to perform at the young age and i dedicate this to the blessing of the almighty.
I had the oppurtunity to visit a tea factory inside an estate and it was a real good experience. I visited the factory thanks to Saravanan, our car Pilot, who had taken us to Hill green Tea factory were we saw the making of tea. The first 4 photos show the process of making tea. i.e. tea leaves are feed to a container tube & it travels a long distance and comes out as tea dust which are classified in to varities with use of filters with various sizes.
Thanks to NCA i got this tour and hope to come back here for a concert and i am sure to stay for a couple of days andfreek out with the climate.

Launch function of Hello FM 106.4

24th Sep'06

I enjoyed being in the launch function of Hello FM 106.4 as I had good opportunity to see few folk number, a team of Indian - Western band and meeting some great personalities like AVM Saravanan sir, Sri Prabhu actor, Sri Sivandhi Adityan and many more. I enjoyed the folk dance and the drum sounds of our traditional and kudos to Paul Uncle for this great idea of presenting them in this launch function. I have a photo of their performance above.

Our performance was also of great quality considering the fact that we had no formal rehearsals and still could win the hearts of almost all in the audience. Looking forward to working with Paul uncle and party for a lengthy show soon.

24th Sep’06 at Sundaram, Chennai

I had a great opportunity to perform inSundaram, Sai Baba Temple in R A Puram. It was a great experience for me to play in that place and it was like performing in a meditation hall with just sounds of pour instruments else the claps we got after the songs. I some how had a feeling as if Sai Baba was always present and listening to our concert. I am looking forward to perform one day in his real presence soon. My pranams for the same.
Concert at Villiwakkam

I traveled a long distance to villiwakkam for the concert and had to cross two railway crossing before reaching the venue James Kalayana Mandapam, Rajaji Nagar, Villiwakkam. I felt it would be sultry on stage and my appa requested for a fan with which we managed very well. Infact both Raghuram (violin) uncle and Calcutta Karthick (Mrudhangam) uncle also felt the same and we thanked the organizers for providing the fan. I got good appreciation from the knowledgeable crowd present and I was happy.

After the concert we had dinner at Raghuram uncle’s house and thanks to his wife we had good chappthi, kootu & urugai. I liked the new house of Raghuram uncle and we had a tour of his house after the dinner. We returned home quite late but with a feeling of having given a good concert and also of having good Chappathis.

Great Delhi Trip

I loved this trip to New Delhi for Delhi Tamil Sangam concert. The reasons 1) My favourate train journey both ways by ac sleeper. 2) I had Trivandrum Balaji anna and Harihara Subramaniam anna to play 3) I had Sri Ramji, Secy Music Academy as an audience, 4) activities in Delhi and 5) a lovely auditorium with good pa system and aquastics.

1) The train journey both ways were fantastic with my amma's Pulliyodhari taking the first mark in the onward journey and Train Panntry's chappathi in the return. I think we all spent time in the train not only cracking jokes but also eating and drinking tea, Soup and eating also junk food like chips.
2) I cannot forget the way Trivandrum Balaji anna and Hari anna were playing with me all through the tour. I extend my sincere thanks to them for having extended great support during this tour.
3) It was indeed a pleasant surprise for me to have Mr Ramji, Music Academy Secy as the chief guest & stayed almost for over an hour to listen to my concert. It is my first oppurtunity to perform before him and i am happy to have done that. I now look forward to great oppurtunities from him as he has already recommanded me for a5 concerts in Bangalore in Dec'06 by listening to my cds. I am now confident that more such things will come thru.
4) I think we spent more time in New Delhi in drinking Juice in the shop near Delhi Tamil Sangam where we had an excellent stay minus just TV. Selvam anna and team of assistants in DTS were so helpful and we were hosted well by DTS with new cot & a bed, good food and area to play cricket. I enjoyed the stay thoroughly and so all the rest. Appa's friend Mr PArthi (his ex Boss) took us to his house where i played with Ganesh (his son) squash, TT and Snooker. What a great house they live in with all facilities. I think this should be taken as the base design for my new house in the years to come!
The best part is the tea shop we went and had tea while going to Balaji temple. It was very unusual for me and the Daba was not clean bu the tea was of high quality.
5) The auditorium was excellent with good quality PA system and aquastics. I did not any one complain about the audio and i also did not have any and so was for the case with other artsits.
I look forward to another concert oppurtunity soon in New Delhi.
Bye for now.

A great Week end
on the shore after saying good bye to Pillaiar
My lovable Pillaiar who i painted and now i had to leave him at the sea today
At the birthday party of my friend Pranav at Pizza Cut Adyar on 9th Sep
It was indeed a weekend with good and a little bad happenings. I had my friend Pranav's birthday party at Pizza Hut , Adyar on saturday which was from 1130 - 230pm and i enjoyed it very well. It was the first time i also ate almost 3 pcs of Pizza and the masala lemonade was really great.
On Sunday i went to the beach after a long time with heavy heart as i had to drop my lovely Pillaiar for whom i had decorated with my own painting. What to do it is a belief that he is taking all the bad things from us and geting dissolved in the sea and so i had to say good bye. I also got hurt while playing shuttle in the morning and took medication.
In the evening i attended a good concert even though for a very short while only. For more details pls scroll down.

Kudos to Sri Harikumar who performed 7 string vio electra isntrument concert.

I went to the beach today for dropping the Pillaiar statue we had at home and on way back I had the great oppurtunity to be there at Sastry Hall, Mylapore. I was thrilled to see Sri Harikumar playing 7 string vio electra instrument. Amazing it was as he cud go and produce bass chords effects so easily on this instrument. As i have my exam tmrw and also i was hurt and not keeping well, i had to leave the concert midway.
Sri D A Srinivas on mrudhangam was excellent and it was a real joy listening to him. I hope one day i will also have an oppurtunity to play with him. Sri Harikumar on Tabla was also playing well. Bhavadharini akka did a commandable job of being vocal support to this concert on D scale. I have heard her perform for Carnataka Sangeetha Sabha earlier where i think she sang on the Scale A, but here she was supporting for the Scale D and also for instrument. It is indeed difficult to compare the speed levels which can be attained on an istrument to that of a vocal artist but today she was really good in matching frame to frame.
I look forward to another concert which i hope to listen full length to understand the nuances of this 7 string instrument. My appa was there till the end and informed that Sri HariKumar might attend my Delhi concert and i look forward to meeting him in person. Appa also told that everyone attended had a pleasant experience and i also saw Sri V S Narasimhan uncle, (lead violin artist and a great friend of Maestro Ilayaraja uncle)

Great to be a part of Chennai On Line.com celebrations (with Mr Ravi)
Audience enjoying by dancing to my tune of a medley of films songs.
All of us watching the mimicry artsits.

Mr Kalaivanan & Mr Radhakrishnan doing mimicry

Great to be a part of Chennai On Line 10th Anniversary Celebrations

It was a great evening for me top have been with the team of Chennai On Line.com during theri 10th anniversary celebration which was chaired by Mr/Mrs Pandian of MAFOI.

I enjoyed teh mimicry programme of Sri Kalaivanan and Radhakrishnan who gave a good presentation bringing out many actors voices, birds & animals. Infact everyone enjoyed the show.

Then it was my turn to entertain people and i think people were very happy as i gave them a mix of carnatic, film and western. I decided to give a presentation of a medley offast films songs and most of them started dancing. They made a special request for Engeyum Yeppodhum - a song from Ninaithale Inikum and a member danced very well debicting the pambu dance. It was Bala i thing and it was amazing indeed.

I enjoyed the food and also the gifts given to me. I was happy that i was involved in the celebrations. Looking forward to more such oppurtunities.

I performed a solo concert on the 6th September, 2006 for a private function at Park Sheraton. It was organised thru Sri Ajit, Pace Effects - a recording theatre. I used Yamaha 640 for rhythm and Korg TR for melody and performed a mix of Classical, Film and Western music. I was happy that people liked the concert and made special request for Papa Kehtheyhey a hindi number and Sri S V Sekar requested for Vandhey Matharam.
I enjoyed the dinner and the play time with my class friend Srinidhi and Young Drummer Siddharth who had also come there to perform solo.
